What was once just a dirt and gravel runway becomes the Grand Junction Municipal Airport. At the time, the airport featured only two hangars and oil/gas facilities.

Walker Field Airport

Grand Junction Municipal Airport was renamed Walker Field Airport.

1946

The first commercial passenger service begins (Western Airlines, followed by United Airlines in 1947)

First two passenger loading bridges installed
